It was the Big Ten Tournament in the Windy City of Chicago Thursday night and the Huskers tried to prolong their season as they faced the Purdue Boilermakers in the first day of action.

At the United Center Coach Tim Miles looked for a signature victory.

In the second half Shavon Shields drives and scores 2 of his 19 points, the Huskers lead 32-28.

A short time later, Dylan Talley is open for a shot which he makes good. Dylan ended up with 5 points in the game and Nebraska led 39-28.

Then later, Brandon Ubel makes the nice pass to David Rivers who finishes with a slam dunk, David had four points and the Huskers led 45-37.

Purdue would make a run as their ace three point shooter DJ Byrd would get hot. His triple cuts the Husker lead to one at 48-47. Byrd had 15 points.

The Huskers would score the next five, two coming here as Brandon Ubel scores inside, Brandon had 16, Nebraska led 53-47.

However, Purdue has a chance to send it to overtime. Tyrone Johnson missed two shots, Ray Galliegos gets the rebound and the clock expires giving Nebraska a hard earned 57-55 victory.

"I think to build off the point earlier that was made was we were picked dead last by everybody but my mom and, you know, we at least outperformed that expectation. And, sometimes, you have to creep to crawl to walk to run and so to be able to beat the hottest team in the league probably was a good accomplishment for this group," said Coach Miles.
