Nebraska was expanding the Athletic Department Wednesday. The school announced that it will add sand volleyball as the 24th intercollegiate sport at the university with competition beginning in the spring of 2013.

It's the first sport Nebraska has added since women's rifle began competition in the 1998-1999 season

The school does not intend to offer scholarships, but all members of the court volleyball team may participate.

If you're curious, 20 schools are currently sponsoring the sport. However, it takes 40 institutions in Division 1 and 2 to sponsor a sport for a year before the NCAA will hold a championship.
