by News 5 Sports

Between games Friday night, Hornet basketball star and Iowa Hawkeye football recruit Drew Ott was honored for earning the award as Gatorade Football Player of the Year for Nebraska.

As his future college football coach Kirk Ferentz looked on, Drew accepted the plaque and midcourt.

Led by his dominance at tight end and on the defensive line, Giltner achieved a perfect regular season .

The Hornet football team eventually lost in the state semi-finals to the eventual runner-up Howells Bobcats.

Drew looks to have a great college career with the Hawkeyes when he goes away to school in Iowa City later this year..
