Giltner football players sign scholarships

by News 5 Sports

Red Hot Drew Ott. That's what we could call the Parade All-American and Gatorade Football Player of the Year.

The Giltner Hornet defensive lineman and tight end made it official Wednesday. He signed with the Iowa Hawkeyes of coach Kirk Ferentz.
Drew had been a sought after athlete. Bill Snyder's Kansas State Wildcats offered a scholarship.

And he was talked to by Oklahoma State about walking on.

Iowa, though, was the place he liked from the start of the recruiting process.

Drew said he likes the way the Hawkeyes develop players and looks forward to his first year of college which he said will be a great learning experience.

Drew isn't the only Giltner Hornet signing an NCAA scholarship.
Lineman Logan Rath is on his way to South Dakota State.

Logan will join Michael Schoff of Cambridge with the Jackrabbits.

Both of those guys say they look forward to getting to South Dakota and particularly the 2013 game when SDSU makes a return trip to play Nebraska.

In 2010 the Jackrabbits came to Lincoln and were in the game until the end before falling 17-3 to the Big Red.
