It has become one of the great mid-winter classics here in Nebraska, a great display of basketball talent on one floor, and will be here before we know it.
It is the Heartland Hoops Classic Saturday February 11th with 8 games, the first starting at nine in the morning and the last at 9:15 at night.
It is the fifth annual classic with some of Nebraska best high school teams going against each other at the Heartland Events Center.
GICC Assistant coach and Pro Team Design owner Tino Martinez is the founder of the tournament which has averaged drawing 3500 people in each of the first four seasons, so this has become a great event.
Among the 16 teams on hand will be two defending state champions, the four Grand Island schools, two Hastings schools and other excellent basketball teams from around the area.
All of the 8 games promise to be good matchups, a few in particular.
Tino also said that a $12 admission charge gets you in for all 8 games, less than $2 a game as he points out.
You can even watch a game, leave, come back and go in and out for any or all of the games. Chances are, they'll all be worth seeing.
