Husker women prepare for Chattanooga
"Yeah and 19 straight and beat Tennessee, again we don't know a lot about them other than those basic facts and we have a lot to learn overnight," said Coach Connie Yori.
Coach Yori and her team definitely have that homework to do to learn all they can about the Lady Moc of Chattanooga, a team as she said, that has a win over the mighty Tennessee Lady Vols 80-71 way back on November 9th. Nebraska meets Chattanooga Saturday at 5:30 Central Time in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in College Station, Texas. These Huskers take on a Moccasin team that has won 19 straight, are Southern Conference champions with a 19-1 league mark and haven't lost a game since an overtime defeat 70-60 back on January 7th to Elon University. For the Big Red, its exciting to face a new challenge and get back to work. "Yeah, back to scouting for teams, back to practicing for them, all that stuff, it's really going to be a fun week to practice, I think," said Jordan Hooper. "It's exciting but it's also kind of weird because you have no idea. You don't even know what the players look like and I think that's kind of strange but it'll be cool to play a team that I don't think we have a history with," Lindsay Moore said. In fact, the teams have met only once before with Chattanooga defeating Nebraska 70-64 way back in 1979. The Tournament Selection Committee obviously has much more respect for the rugged Husker Big Ten schedule to seed them much higher than Chattanooga. |
