Huskers and Bulldogs practice for the big game
When they line up against the Huskers Tuesday in the Capital One Bowl, the Georgia Bulldogs will be without one of their best defenders.
All SEC Nose Tackle John Jenkins is out of the lineup declared academically ineligible. Jenkins had 50 tackles and started all 13 games for the Dogs this season. He is thought to be an early NFL draft choice. The Dogs do have depth at that position. His replacement Kwame Gethers is also a player in which the NFL teams have their eyes on. Both teams worked out Thursday morning in Orlando before having some fun. Many of the Huskers went to Disney World while the Georgia players were at Universal Studios. Both will have various outings the next few days around their practice schedules. All eyes will be on the Husker defense Tuesday once the game gets underway. The Blackshirts took a major hit giving up 9 offensive touchdowns to Wisconsin in the Big 10 title game dropping the Big Red to 9th in scoring defense in the Big 10. Nebraska has surrendered an average of just over 26 points a game thru 13 games. The Huskers are 4th in yards allowed a game giving up an average of 343 per contest. Coach Bo Pelini knows he needs a great game out of junior quarterback Taylor Martinez. Bo feels after leading the team to 10 victories and some in dramatic come from behind fashion, he is ready to have a great game against those 'Dogs. |
