Huskers fans make pilgrimage to Ohio

Among those in the crowd of more than 100,000 at Ohio Stadium Saturday night will be Scott Sharderow. Scott has already traveled from Hastings to Columbus aboard his motor coach with several of his friends.

We met them early Friday morning as their long journey of about 900 miles began.

It is early morning here at KHAS-TV News 5 north of Hastings. News 5 Today will soon begin with Amy West and Chris Schueki, as the clock counts down to 6:00 am. These News 5 Today anchors get ready for the show.

Outside in the darkness Scott Sharderow pulls up in his motor coach to make a quick stop. Final destination? Columbus, Ohio where Saturday night he and his friends will watch the Big Red of Nebraska battle the Scarlett and Grey of Ohio State in a key Big Ten football game. Scott and his crew enthusiastically look forward to the trip and the game.

"We're gonna have some fun, we have lots of hast for people to try along the way and we're gonna stop and put hats on them and take some photos with them and send them back to you, Ed," said Sharderow.

Go Big Red. How do you feel about going to Columbus?

"Absolutely wonderful. It's on my bucket list, hit all these Big Ten stadiums. This is my first one," said Dan Anderson.

How do you feel about going to Columbus?

"Awesome, awesome check with me tomorrow night after the game, but I'm feeling good about it right now," said Sam Fogelsong.

News 5's Travis Klanecky has already given his pick, Nebraska 31, Ohio State 27. Scott, a native of Cincinnati, is torn between his former home state and his current home state's team.

"I'm kind of torn between the Buckeyes and Huskers, and I have some Cornhead Conversion," Sharderow said.

They hit the highway and will pick up others in Lincoln and Omaha on their journey of a lifetime to the Buckeye State at which they're arriving at about 6:00 pm.
