Legion Baseball: Five Points vs Millard Sox

Tools

by Kyle Thomas

Last night Hastings Five Points kicked off the Johnny Hopp with a 6-2 win over Millard South Primetime getting the ball rolling in the right direction and Saturday morning they tried to keep the Momentum going versus Millard West out at Duncan Field.

The overcast skies a welcoming sight to everybody in attendance. Scoreless game until the fifth when Millard finally breaks through. Reid Winkelman singles to center driving in Josh Nelson to make it 1-0, Sox.

And here is your ubiquitous baby at the baseball game shot...so cute.

Then after a Kyle Goldenstein balk brought in the second run the visitors add another when Nate Poppe singles past second to bring Joe Beeson around from second and it's 3-0, Black team.

Five Points, though, not giving up bottom six bases loaded and Patrick Opperman delivers. His single to center drives in Mason Spilinek and the home team is on the board.

Then after a wild pitch and an error tied the game at three, Five Points Xander Schmidt comes to the plate and lifts a fly ball deep enough to score Opperman from third making it 4-3. Five Points would score an insurance ran to make it 5-3 winning by the same score.
