Nebraska Danger assembles player roster
They're a new indoor football squad coming to Grand Island. And, the Nebraska Danger is wasting no time putting their first roster together including a familiar name to those in Hastings.
Monday, the Nebraska Danger signed their first ever players to the dotted line. On Sunday, the Danger held open tryouts at the Heartland Event Center. Head Coach Sean Ponder added former University of Arizona football players Willie Tuitama, and Brandon Lopez. Tuitama threw for over 9,000 yards and 67 TD's in his career at Arizona. He was the Holiday Bowl MVP in 2007. In addition to the former Wildcats, the Danger signed two other former Division 1 players in Andrew Gamboa from Texas A&M, and Tommy Phelps of Memphis. Former Hastings College Bronco Wide Receiver Maurice Mansfield is also going to get his chance to play. Maurice was the top receiver for Hastings College a year ago. And, he helped lead the Broncos to the NAIA National Playoffs. Mansfield is one of two receivers the Danger signed. And, he's let the coaches know he's got talent. The Danger will begin their first season this February. And, they're expected to announce their schedule sometime this week. |
