Doniphan competitor wins spot at Nebraska State Rodeo

Tools

The Nebraska State rodeo finals took place last week with many young rodeoers earning a spot in the national finals July 15th through the 21st in Rock Springs Wyoming.

One of those competitors earning a spot Doniphan's Rhett Nelson going in team roping with teammate Tucker White of Hershey.

It's a great honor only four out of every state get to go there is up to sixty teams competing throughout the year and thirty at state and to be top four is pretty awesome.

To the Rodeo novice such as myself Nelson's position as the header in team roping looks like the easy part of the team.
Basically the header gets his or her rope around the steer's head and chills out but for anyone who knows anything about roping...they know I'm an Idiot.

The header does a lot of it too you know the way he handles the steer. Header has to worry about the barrier where rating off catching, just staying consistent with everything you do that makes the healers job so much easier.

Nelson and White finished the rodeo season as the top team in Nebraska just ahead of Shane Suchy Peyton Holliday.
