Teams do battle at the Shrine Bowl
One of the first things which comes to mind when I think of June is football. Ok, not really, but Saturday football fans were able to get their fix with the Shrine Bowl and the Danger both in action and we head to Memorial Stadium as this year's seniors get in one last game on the grid iron.
South offense preparing to take the field as the cheerleaders cheered on a nice sunny day.
First quarter just over a minute in the north looking to get a drive going but GI's Ryker Fyfe has his pass tipped at the line which lands in the waiting hands of Brad Simpson from Ralston giving the South a 7-0 lead.
Now in the second South up by 4 and knocking on the door at the goal line gives the ball to giltner Hornet Drew Ott for the sneak and a 14-3 lead the South team heads to the half up 17-3.
Then midway through the third quarter the South looking to widen the gap, Crete's Derek McGinnis goes up top for Brandon Reilly and he does the rest bringing it in for the score it's 24-3, South.
But just three minutes later the North finally gets in the endzone. Fyfe finds GI teammate Sam Foltz for the score cutting the lead to 14 at a 24-10, South advantage.
Moving to the fourth, the South rewarding former Adams Central Patriot Kyle Cuddeford for doing most of the work getting them to the goal with the TD Carry to make it 31-10, white team.
North, trying to make it game, pulls out the trickeration, Fyfe with the bounce pass to Foltz who finds Chavatal down field for the grab. The pass sets up another Fyfe td pass this time finding North's Terry Grixby on the slant pass across the middle for the score. The North goes for two and gets it to make it 31-18 but would do no more as the South wins the game 34-18.
