So close and yet so far. That's how the Grand Island Islander soccer team felt after losing last season's Class A state title game by a goal to Creighton Prep.
Thursday night the Islanders continue the road back to Omaha and the state tournament next week.
The matter at hand, the A-2 district championship game against the Bulldogs of Omaha Burke.
The Islanders are on the attac first as Foxter Pineda Arriaza passes to Lucas Venegas for the goal and the Islanders are up 1-0.
Lucas is definitely fired up after that one.
Now Foxter Pineda Arriza gets his chance to score and takes advantage of it for a 2-0 lead.
The Danger Dog is on hand to support the Islanders. In the 2nd Lucasn Venegas scores 3-1, Lucas again 4-1.
