Strong plays leave bright spot for Husker football

You get the sense coach Bo Pelini can hardly wait until spring practice starts in about six weeks. As we know, the Huskers held the lead 3 seperate times in the Capital One Bowl against Georgia, but not when it counted, at the end.

No doubt the Big Red made some big plays, like Taylor Martinez touchdown pass to Jamal Turner and Will Compton's interception for a touchdown giving the squad hope.

All of these seemed to hint at a Capital One Bowl victory until a 22-0 run by the Bulldogs propelled the Dogs to the victory, Nebraska's 3 straight bowl loss.

With guys like running back Rex Burkhead departing that hurts but the 2013 Nebraska squad does return 3 year quarterback Taylor Martinez, their top 4 receivers and leading rusher Ameer Abdullah.

Though the final rankings won't come forth until next weeks' national championship game between Notre Dame and Alabama, the Huskers, who finished 10-4, are ranked 23rd in the AP Poll and 16th in the BCS
