Tri City Storm gets ready for Lancers

Friday night the Tri-City Storm faces another crucial game as they'll again host the USHL West 1st place Omaha Lancers.

The Storm's win Sunday at Omaha puts Tri-City where it wants to be, in that 6th place and final playoff position in the West. With 14 games left, we'll see if they stay there.

Speaking of the Lancers, they'll play an outdoor game next February here at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha against the Lincoln Stars.

It'll be reminiscent of the NHL's outdoor games here on NBC the last few New Year's Days, such as this one at Wrigley Field in Chicago a few years ago between the Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks.

Storm coach and GM Josh Hauge is not a stranger to outdoor hockey and I asked him if he'd like the Storm to someday play one.

No doubt this NHL tradition is one that is very popular.

By the way, when the Lancers play the Stars at TD Ameritrade in February it will be part of a doubleheader with UNO going against North Dakota in a college game.
