It is without question the showcase event each season for Coach Shawn Kelly's Hastings Bronco Wrestling program and it happened Saturday at Lynn Farrell Arena.

Let's go to Lynn Farrell for the Hastings Bronco open Wrestling tournament.

Bronco freshman Blake Fruchtl takes on UNK's Brett LaBudda in the 142 pound consolation match.

Blake scores on the takedown here in the first period.

Former Loper national champ and MMA fighter TJ Hepburn looks on..
Blake then nearly gets the pin in the match but can't quite come up with the three count.

Nonetheless, he does win the major decision 17-2.

Now to the 169 pound championship match. Connor Blanco of the Hastings Broncos in the dark siglet faces Buena Vista's Seth Shada.
Former Bronco All-American Jameon Rush looks on.

It would be a competitive low scoring match.

Leading 1-0 in the 3rd period, Shada takes down Connor and goes on to a 4-0 victory, Conner settles for runner up.

13 teams competed in the event, no team scores were kept and almost all of the Wrestlers had a chance to wrestle 3 matches or more.
