2009 turned out to be the best of times and worst of times for the UNK Loper Volleyball team of veteran coach Rick Squiers. Louie the Loper was plenty excited as the squad went 33–1, then dropped the RMAC Tournament Title game to Metro State and first round NCAA Tournament contest to Minnesota–Duluth.

Four starters are gone from that team that went 19–0 in the regular season in the league, but five seniors return including All–American candidates former GI Islander Jeri Walkowiak in the middle and setter Cola Svec.

Coach Squiers takes his Lopers to Tampa opening the season September 3rd with four games in 2 days.

UNK plays Central Missouri, Tampa, Northern Kentucky and Grand Valley in a rematch of the '06 National Championship contest.

The UNK Loper volleyball team continues to lead NCAA Division Two in attendance averaging over 1,000 fans a game.

The home opener is September 8th against Augustana College.
The Lopers host their UNK Fall Classic September 10th and 11th in which they'll play 2 games on each of those days.
