Just over 2 months after the Huskers made the move to the Big 10 another branch of the University of Nebraska has been given the unanimous "OK" to make a similar change.

Following Tuesday's Board of Regents meeting, the UNK Lopers are poised to make the jump from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference to the Mid–America Intercollegiate Athletics Association.

It's now up to the MIAA to accept the Lopers
.
The conference has been looking to expand for a while and UNK has definitely been on its radar.

The University of Nebraska–Omaha and Fort Hays State are on their way and the Lopers would be more than happy to join them.

According to Chancellor Doug Kristensen the school's main reason for leaving the R–MAC isn't because of anything other than the opportunities that lie ahead in the MIAA.

Next on the docket is for UNK to send its letter to the MIAA which could happen as soon as Wednesday.

If everything goes according to plan the Lopers should be voted into the conference on September 20th and would begin play in the MIAA in the fall of 2012.
