One week from tonight, college football season begins. The defending RMAC Champion UNK Lopers host the only team that defeated them in the regular season last year, the Wayne State Wildcats.

Coach Darrell Morris sent his team thru a two hour workout this morning at Foster Field.

The Lopers hope to improve on last year's 11–2 season, and a playoff victory over Saginaw Valley State.

The loss this week of former Hastings Tiger and senior offensive lineman Steve Goodin to a broken leg will have to be overcome.

Practice is going really well though we lost Steven Goodin for the season with an injury. I know he wants to come back next year for us but we'll really miss him.

I know we have been working hard and we are ready to play Wayne next Saturday night.

We broke camp this morning, school starts Monday so we'll have to get by some more distractions but we're looking forward to Saturday night to play a football game.

The Lopers finished with a perfect 9–0 league mark in 2009 dethroning the Chadron State Eagles as RMAC Champs.

Ranked 13th in the nation in the pre–season poll, UNK is picked to repeat as league champs. That's a goal the players have in front of them as one of the first college teams to play.

We definitely want to repeat as RMAC Champions and I think we have the talent to do that, We are ready to play a game Saturday.

We're playing Wayne in the first game and we are happy to be playing in that game. If that can get people here to Cope Stadium that would be great. We just want to get people to the ballfield.

Led by quarterback Jake Spitzleberger and running back and RMAC Pre–Season offensive player of the year running back Rustin Dring, the Lopers look to put up some points after averaging 36 a game last year.

RMAC defensive player of the year JoshRohde anchors an excellent defensive line for the hopeful Lopers.
