They are just one win shy of a school record for a season. The UNK Loper baseball team hopes to pick up victory #39 of this season Thursday in the NCAA Tournament against Minnesota State.

After winning the RMAC Plains Division title, the Lopers finished in 3rd place in the just completed league tournament at Memorial Field.

Coach Damon Day's squad gets a bid for the 3rd time in four seasons. The Lopers are part of the field of 48 teams in 8 regions.

The eight winners go to the NCAA Division II World Series May 22–29 in Cary, North Carolina.

"Great to be in the post–season again and it's great for the kids, I am just so happy we have had a good regular season and get the chance to be in the tournament again," said Coach Damon Day.

"I think it is great to get that opportunity, hopefully we can play good ball and go down there and really have some good games to put together," 3rd baseman Luke Valerius said.

The Lopers are joined in the Farmington, New Mexico regional by conference foes Mesa State who takes on Winona State at four in the first round of the Double Elimination affair, and RMAC Tourney and Mountain Division Champ New Mexico Highlands who meets St. Cloud State at 8:00 Thursday.
