No matter who plays quarterback Saturday, Husker coach Bo Pelini insists that QB can lead his team to victory over the Fighting Illini of Illinois in the Big Ten Opener for both squads...

Starter Taylor Martinez, who has over 10,000 yards total offense, missed last week's game against South Dakota State with the turf toe injury.

He gave way to freshman Tommy Armstrong Junior and senior Ron Kellogg the third..

Running Back Ameer Abdullah is a guy who knows about coming in off the bench replacing a starter when Rex Burkhead was injured last season and you have to be ready.

I mean I just try to prepare to have the best performance for every Saturday. I didn’t over think it really. Rex going down was huge in the eyes of a lot of people but for me for the most part I though I was ready because I prepared well and I really didn’t over think it."

I couldn’t imagine someone starting 32 games like he has and that being Saturday and because of things out of your control really. I mean injuries happen and you can’t really do much about it and every time I see him he’s at practice, he’s looking through the script he’s looking at the plays and I think he’s out there taking the mental reps that he needs and I can definitely tell he has the fire to get back in and get that job back.

Confident going into the last one and I feel no different now, I feel even better than I did before and that was pretty good. I have a lot of confidence in those guys.  I think they’re both good players and I know we’ll play well around the, too and I feel whatever gives us the best chance to win the football game and that means having somebody physically and mentally ready to roll.

If Taylor can't go, Bo will likely start Tommy Armstrong as he did last game against South Dakota State.

The more the week progresses and Taylor doesn't practice and he didn't today, the more likely he won't play. We'll see."
