For the first time in 32 games, Taylor Martinez wasn’t under center for Big Red sitting this one out with turf toe but his backups filled in admirably. Tommy Armstrong junior and Ron Kellogg the third combining to throw for 305 yards through the air leading the Huskers to a 59-20 win over South Dakota State. However Coach Pelini says there are plent of issues on the other side of the ball.
I thought that was our worst performance defensively for a lot of different reasons just fundemtally, technique wise missed assignments just things that there is no excuse for and like I just told the defense, they have to make up their mind of what we’re going to be and how we’re going to approach it.
We’ve go to do some real evaluating, some real soul searching as players and coaches to figure out about were to go forward and go with it.
Missed assignments, missed assignments and missed tackles but you’ve go to get back to fundementals to fix that.
So next for the Huskers is a bye week in which they can try and fix things on both sides of the ball,
The next game is when Big 10 play starts with Illinois coming to Lincoln exactly in two weeks.
