A pig slaughter gone wrong.

A Grand Island man is charged with shooting another man in the leg while a group was slaughtering pigs just blocks away from downtown Grand Island.

Luis Motola-Palacio was in Hall County court Monday for his preliminary hearing.

He faces two charges-- second-degree assault and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony.

According to court documents, officers responded to a disturbance call at Motola-Palacio's home when they found Michel Garcia-Rivera shot in the leg.

Monday, Motola-Palacio waived his right to a preliminary hearing.  His next court appearance is scheduled for November 12th in District Court.

The slaughter of the animals remains under investigation.

If the election was today, who would you vote for Grand Island mayor?
