Accused serial killer Dr. Anthony Garcia is asking to be removed from administrative confinement at the Douglas County Jail.
In a motion filed Monday, Garcia claimed his confinement has caused "extreme, unusual and significant hardships including, but not limited to having a notable negative impact on Defendant's overall mental health."

The motion goes on to claim this may be the primary cause of Garcia's previous psychotic episodes, and could have an impact on whether he is able to assist in his own defense.

Garcia is asking Judge Dougherty to consider other options for new living arrangements, including a move to segregated confinement at the Douglas County Jail, a transfer to the Lincoln Regional Center, or reconsider the issue of bail.

A hearing to consider this motion will be held on June 26th. Garcia is charged in the 2008 Dundee murders of Thomas Hunter and Shirlee Sherman and the 2013 murders of Dr. Roger Brumback and his wife, Mary.
