A decade old sexual assault case could soon shed some unwanted light on a prominent Nebraska sports figure.
The Lincoln Journal Star is reporting that the ACLU is suing the Lincoln Police Chief on behalf of Slate Magazine. They're seeking records on an alleged rape 10 years ago.
Slate Magazine Senior Editor, Emily Bazelon requested the records last month... but was denied access. She's working on a story with a woman who reported a rape to Lincoln Police in 2004. The alleged perpetrator is said to be someone of public prominence in Nebraska athletics. The rape was never prosecuted, and the victim claims it wasn't adequately investigated.
