A five person advisory board has been approved for the Highway 281 to
Highway 6 truck route project.

The proposed truck route would be near 42nd street and North Showboat

All 5 advisory board members own land near that intersection.

6 of 7 Adams County supervisors approved the advisory board.

Supervisor Lee Saathoff abstained because he owns land near the site.

The Board of Supervisors opted to not act further on the project today.

Costs and sound barriers still need to be discussed.

The County's Highway Superintendent addressed concerns that the new route
could divert business in Hastings.

"Well that's one reason why we call it a truck route. We want the trucks to
hit it. We don't want the people to bypass Hastings," Dawn Miller said.

The Board of Supervisors will discuss the issue again on October 15th.
