Lawmakers in Lincoln stayed in session right up to the midnight cutoff last night. And as the hour grew late, State Senator Ernie Chambers made yet another attempt to protect Nebraska mountain lions.
The Omaha Senator added the hunting ban on the big cats that had been vetoed by Governor Heineman as an amendment to an insurance-related measure up for debate last night. Legislative rules require amendments be relevant to the subject of the bill.
The Unicameral chair ruled that the mountain lion hunting ban did *not* meet those requirements.
