We're approaching two decades of the Aurora football team playing in the post season.
The Huskies ...a mainstay in the playoffs...with 16 straight appearances
And there's no reason to believe they won't make it 17 in a row
Coach Randy Huebert's team
Loaded once again ...with 8 starters on offense
And six on defense ...returning from last year's 8–3 club
That lost to McCook in the class B quarterfinals
Aurora ...also sports another streak ...6 straight years with a playoff win
A mark they hope to continue ...this season
"We want to stay loyal to the tradition that has been set here in Aurora. That is long before I got here. We want to play together, have some enthusiasm, have some fun and have some purpose in what we are doing out here in our preparation. We seem focused and we are making progress."
"Tradition is always big. In our weight room it says commitment to excellence. To always go out there and compete at the best of our ability."
"I want us to fit in with that 2008 team that won it all and the team after that. Just with the greats and come together and just keep going."
But to keep it going ...will require navigating through the difficult terrain of class B
With tough match ups against Crete, Adams Central, York and McCook
"Just a lot of rivalry. That is what I love about our district and all the schools around here. It's a competition every Friday night. It doesn't take much for us to get excited to play those guys."
"Yea, I think there is a lot of parity and it is a very good class of football from top to bottom."
