Betty Lou  Rasmussen

Betty L. Rasmussen, 80, of Marquette, Nebraska, died Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Litzenberg Memorial County Hospital in Central City. Memorial services will be Thursday, May 29, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Wagner Funeral Home in Central City with Pastor Tess Hufford officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 28, 2014 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Central City Cemetery.
Betty was born on June 12, 1933 to Robert “Jack” and L. Bearl (Moore) Spencer in Mt. Ayr, Iowa. She grew up in Central City and received her education at District # 8 and District #13. She graduated from Central City High School in 1950. 
She married Edgar “Sonny” Rasmussen on June 10, 1952 at the United Methodist Church in Central City. The couple lived in Norfolk, VA, Portsmouth, VA and Key West, Florida as her husband was in the Navy. 
Betty was employed at Douthit’s and Delancey’s Cafes. She also worked in the Superintendent’s office at Central City Public Schools and Hested’s Store. She then worked for 29 years at Central Bank in Central City where she was a cashier for 19 years, becoming head cashier. Betty retired in June of 1992.
Betty was a member of Central City United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She was also a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a member of Who’s Who in Nebraska. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, exercising, dancing and traveling in their RV, spending many winters in AZ and TX, where they met many friends. Betty also enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Eileen Rasmussen of Central City, NE; one daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and John Jr. Boord of Grand Island, NE; two grandsons – Daniel Boord of Grand Island, NE and Joshua Boord of Grand Island, NE, and one step grandson – Jonathan Boord of Vail, CO; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Doris Lorensen of Central City, NE.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Edgar Rasmussen, grandson, Kristen Murphy, two brothers, Robert Spencer and Lloyd Spencer; and three sisters – Lula Hladky, Beulah Stanislav, and Bonnie Murphy.
Memorials are suggested to United Methodist Church in Central City, and condolences may be sent to the family at
