A new name officially in the race for Nebraska's Third District Congressional Seat... Colonel Tom Brewer announced his candidacy this morning.
Brewer is a Retired Army Veteran with 36 years of military service, most recently with multiple tours of duty in Afghanistan. Brewer is a two-time Purple Heart recipient.
He has also been awarded a Bronze Star and a Joint Service Commendation Medal.
In 2011, he was severely wounded during an attack in Afghanistan, forcing him to retire from military service.
He grew up near the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in Gordon.
Brewer said this morning, "I want to see Nebraska's resources preserved, whether that be keeping our young people here in the state and Third District; taking care of our precious ground water; or continuing the development of alternative uses for our products such as ethanol and biodiesel."
Current Congressman Adrian Smith is seeking re-election for the seat.
