The Central District Health Department is getting some generous help in fighting the area's number one public health priority, obesity.

The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services has awarded a 25,000 dollar grant to the local agency. Over 67 percent of the district's adult population is either overweight or obese.

The Health Department says the new funds will be used to help area employers with worksite wellness initiative that support a healthy work environment.

Assistant Health Director Ryan King says they received their funds as a direct result of the positive work that has been done with the popular "Rethink Your Drink" campaign.
