Charles W. “Bill” Haldeman, 80, of Grand Island, died Monday October 7, 2013 at his home.
Celebration of life service will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday at All Faiths Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Scott Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be an hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
Bill was born November 20, 1932 in Grand Island to Fred and Florence (Dillow) Haldeman.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon and son, Dwight Haldeman (Sue Lukasiewicz) of Hastings.
Those also left to cherish his memory include brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Rich and Shirley Grudzinski of Grand Island; numerous nieces and nephews and his purr-fectly favorite feline, Angel.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James “Jim” Haldeman.
Bill grew up in Grand Island, attending District 76 and Grand Island Senior High School. He was united in marriage to Sharon Kensinger on April 3, 1966 in First Christian Church.
Bill farmed his entire life, enjoying God’s earthly creations. He was a member of First Christian Church, the Platt Deutsche and the Saddle Club. In addition to his farm, Bill enjoyed gardening, camping and fishing. He loved vintage cars, which he collected and tinkered on. Bill will be remembered for his love of his family and his soft spot for his animals.
Memorials are suggested to First Christian Church or the Salvation Army.
