In the US, a report of child abuse is made every 10 seconds.  The Association for Child Abuse Prevention Coalition says it's even a problem right here in Central Nebraska.

That's why 33 different organizations from around Grand Island joined hands Sunday for the Children's Day Festival.

From the State Patrol's rollover simulator, to Teddy Bear check ups by Saint Francis.  The 20th annual event gave Central Nebraska's families the tools to keep their kids safe and healthy.

"Child abuse can happen in families that are a little stressed, struggling to put food on their tables, struggling with everyday needs of the children. There's many steps you can do using timeouts, using appropriate measures, to keep abuse from happening," said April Cole, an ACAP Board-member.

Cole added every year ACAP's Children's Day has at least 500 children attend the event.
