The bi–annual city wide garage sale was held Saturday at the Hastings City Auditorium, giving locals a chance to clean out their closets and make some extra cash.
Peg Wallace has attended the event for years, and she's made anywhere from 100 to 800 dollars.
But that's after a steep investment: one dollar for a table rental.
"If they sold a million dollars, they make a million dollars,” Hastings city worker Marie Vacek said. “It would be great."
Books, movies and vintage mirrors...
Some of the stuff costs no more than a couple bucks.
With over 40 tables full of merchandise, something is bound to catch your eye.
The fall event tends to land conveniently on the same day the Veterans Parade.
And it's a sale that's been going on so long, most can't remember when it started.
The idea is to clean out all the old stuff from your basements and garages...
But it doesn't always work out that way.
"Vendors buy from other vendors so a lot of times people come in with something and they buy something from somebody else so they're still leaving with something,” Vacek said.
That sale wrapped up around 3 p.m. Saturday.
Vacek estimates about 25 vendors were present.
