Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced today
150 million dollars in awards under the Affordable Care Act to support 236 new health center sites across the country.
Included in that funding, over 800 thousand dollars for the Heartland Health Center in Grand Island. Federal officials say the grants will help care for approximately 1.25 million additional patients. The community health centers will also be on the front line of helping the uninsured enroll in new insurance options available through the Health Insurance Marketplace.
The Heartland health center was one of only 2 facilities in Nebraska to receive the additional funding. Omaha's One World Community Health Center will receive just over 216 thousand dollars.
