Dale H. Johnson, three weeks shy of 94, passed away at Mary Lanning Health Care , Sunday, September 22, 2013. Born October 14, 1919 on a farm southeast of Fairfield to Vennel Hubert and Ida Mae Johnson. Dale received his education from Sandy Valley Country School and Fairfield High School, graduating in 1937. He worked at Omaha Steel before serving in the Army during WWII and the Korean Conflict. Returning home to farming, and uniting in marriage to JoAnn Powell at her parents home, Sept 18, 1949. He enjoyed woodworking, welding and gardening his entire life.

Dale was a Member of the Christian Church in Edgar, NE and Honored by the Edgar American Legion for 60 + years of service. For over forty years Dale and family took pride in the tracking and marking the graves of servicemen with flags for Memorial Day. He enjoyed serving his community by delivering Meals on Wheels until he turned 90 yrs old.

Survivors include his wife JoAnn of Hastings, NE; sons Doug (Patty) Johnson of Ong, NE Ken (Kendra) Johnson of California, MO and daughter Sheila (Chuck) Leffler of Eustis, NE. Brother Delbert Johnson of Hastings, NE Sister in law Marleen Powell of St.Libory, NE, 11 grandchildren and spouses. 9 and counting- great-grandchildren other relatives and a host of friends. 

Preceded in death by his parents and sister Phyllis Johnson.

Funeral services will be held this Thursday 11:00 am, September 26, 2013 at the Edgar Christian Church. Pastor David King will be officiating. Burial with military honors will be held in the Edgar Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at wmsfh.com. Visitation with the family present will be held on Thursday from 9:30 am to service time at the church. Memorials in lieu of flowers to the family. Williams Funeral Home of Edgar is in charge of the arrangements.
