Daniel Joe Martinez, 22 of Grand Island died, Friday, May 23, 2014 in Grand Island as the result of an auto accident. 

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at the Apfel Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Schaaf officiating. Burial will be in Grand Island Cemetery. Visitation hours will be 10 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 26, 2014 at the Apfel Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the family. Apfel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. 

Daniel Joe Martinez was born March 11, 1992 in Kearney, Nebraska the son of Rodolfo & Sonya (Cisneros) Martinez. He grew up in Grand Island graduating from Grand Island Senior High with the class of 2010. In his high school years, he was employed at the Mall Stadium 7 Theaters in Grand Island, and was currently employed at Malace Inc. as a forklift operator. 

He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. 

Daniel had a love of sports, video games and music. Daniel was a faithful Miami Hurricane fan. He loved the Beatles music, as it was top on his music list. His love of Beatles music became his mother’s also, as Daniel was an old soul at heart. 

Daniel had a smile that would light up a room, for this he will be remembered most. He was a genuine friend and loved to be in the company of his many friends. He loved to have family get togethers, and always had a game of basketball of football going on in the yard. His greatest love was his family.

Those left to cherish his memory include his mother and father, Sonya Cisneros Martinez and Rodolfo Martinez of Grand Island, brother, Marcos Martinez of Grand Island, sister, Lilliana Martinez of Grand Island, grandparents, Marion & Eloisa Cisneros of Minden, Nebraska, Herculano & Visenta Martinez of Gto., Mexico; aunts & uncles, Cindy & Jeff Duffey and their children, Phoenix and Lola; Corina & Rob Powers and their children, Madison, Parker & Jaeger. 

He was preceded in death by a sister, Amanda Martinez and his great grandmothers, Ruth Cisneros and Delorez Martinez.
