.That's Doniphan–Trumbull football coach Brent Breckner after his team defeated the Battle Creek Braves in the state class C–2 semi–finals last night.
The Cardinals outscored the Braves 35–6 in the final 3 quarters of the game.
They came home with a 49–20 win earning a trip to the state championship game next Tuesday at 2:45 at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln.
The Cardinals will face the two time defending champions Aquinas Catholic Monarchs at the home of the Huskers six days from now.
Now, will anybody be in Doniphan Tuesday?" It's going to be pretty barren here. I mean we've had some great support all year and I don't think that's going to changE," said DT-Running back Jordan Slough..
"It's really exciting, it's something a lot of people don't get to experience as a player or coaching and we're going down there so we're going to enjoy that par to it, but it's a football game, 100 yard field and and that still all any of our kids need to know and we're going to enjoy that but need to be prepared, it's still blocking and tackling and catching and running and all that stuff so we excited about the chance to play and perform one more time.", said Doniphan-Trumbull Cardinal coach Brent Breckner
The Cardinals rushed for 362 yards and five touchdown in last night's win to remain perfect on the season at 11–0.
They'll go into the title game as the #1 ranked team in the state in C–2.
Aquinas easily defeated Malcolm 37–14 to give themselves a chance for a 3rd consecutive title.
