Doris M. Fackler, 84, of Boelus, formerly of Grand Island, died Monday, February 17, 2014 at St. Francis Medical Center.
Doris was born on November 6, 1929 at Washington, Kansas to Elmer H. and Helen Eva (Bontie) Corbin. She grew up in Washington and Thedford, Nebraska. She graduated from Thedford High School in 1949.
She was united in marriage to Oliver Fackler on March 3, 1949 in Norton, Kansas. They later couple later moved to Grand Island where they owned and operated the Fackler Service Station and Restaurant from 1964 until they closed it in 1992.
Doris was a member of the Alda/Wood River American Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing cards, traveling and spending time with family, and riding horses. She especially loved attending the horse races and watching her grandson, Chris, ride in the races.
She is survived by her son Howard S. Fackler and his wife Patricia of Boelus; a daughter, Betty Jean Kelly and her husband Kenneth of Clarksville, AR; nine grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.
She is also survived by two brothers, Jack Corbin and his wife Carolyn of Sumner, NE, and Glen Corbin and his wife Candy of Seneca, NE.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Oliver.
