Despite a rise in unemployment, other economic indicators are pointing to more growth in the state this year. The University of Nebraska Lincoln's latest Leading Economic Indicator Report indicates Nebraska's economy should see moderate growth this summer and heat up even more later in the year.
The Indicator is comprised of six components... including single-family building permits, airline passenger counts, and initial unemployment claims.
February saw solid improvement in business expectations; and slight increases in manufacturing hours and airline passengers. Building permits and the dollar exchange rate both declined slightly.
