A bill that would ban mountain lion hunting in the state of Nebraska hit a road block Thursday. After over four hours of debate, opponents mounted a filibuster to try and block the bill from final approval.
Omaha Senator Ernie Chambers introduced the bill to protect the big cats. However, Senator Scott Lautenbaugh says the bill is unnecessary. Lawmakers approved mountain lion hunting in 2012. Chambers was out of office during that time.
