Final approval of e-cigs bill scheduled for today

Nebraska minors could soon be banned from buying e-cigarettes. Today state lawmakers are scheduled to give final approval to State Senator Russ Karpisek's bill. The bill would restrict the sale and use of e-cigarettes for minors.

Under the bill, minors who use e-cigarettes could be charged with a misdemeanor, as could businesses that sell the product to those under 18. Retailers would also be required to keep the product behind the counter in a secure display case.

Supporters of the proposal say there hasn't been enough research done to show that e-cigarettes are safe. If the legislature passing the bill on final reading today, It will go to the Governor's desk for his signature.
