Yet another fire in Central Nebraska. Multiple fire departments were on the scene of a fire at the Gibbon City Maintenance building last night.

Fire crews from Gibbon, Kearney, and Shelton arrived on scene just after 9:30. Crews were able to get the fire under control in a little over an hour.

Matt Smallcomb, Gibbon Assistant Fire Chief, said when they arrived on the scene there were no visible flames, but when crews entered the building they came face to face with heavy smoke and flames.

Smallcomb believes the fire was caused by burning vehicle inside the building, but the Fire Marshal will determine the official cause,
"Pretty much all the vehicles in the building will be totaled I believe especially in the east half of the building," Smallcomb said.
The Gibbon fire department says there were at least 5 city vehicles damaged during the fire. No injuries were reported.
