Gary E. Brown, 85 of Grand Island, died Thursday, December 12, 2013 at St. Francis Medical Center.

Gary E. BrownServices will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at All Faiths Funeral Home.  Dan Naranjo will officiate.  Burial will be at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at All Faiths Funeral Home.

Mr. Brown was born September 5, 1928 on a farm near Scotia the son of James and Neva (Trump) Brown.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Ruby; daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Clark Kalkowski of Grand Island; sons, Bill Brown of Millersville, MD, Jerry Brown of Wichita, KS and Terry Brown and his friend, Chana King of Gilbert, Arizona; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Kathy Brown of South Carolina and sisters and brothers-in-law, Beverly and Robert Taylor of Lincoln, Connie Winter of Scotia and Yvonne and Jim Cole of South Carolina.

Those also left to cherish his memory are grandchildren, Jennifer, Michelle, Gavin, Ariann, Heather, Hillery, Rocky and Cooper and sixteen great-grandchildren.

His parents; brother, Kenneth Brown and sisters, Darlene Mattingly and Olive Sowell preceded him in death.

Gary was raised on a farm and graduated from Scotia High School.  He was united in marriage to Ruby Carr on October 20, 1946.  They farmed near Scotia until moving to Grand Island in 1950.

Gary was not only a loving husband, father and grandfather but also a dedicated employee having worked at Hansens Wholesale for the past 55 years.  He is a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.  Some of his enjoyments included camping, fishing, bowling, working in his yard and his flower gardens and he was an avid Husker fan.  Most of all he loved time spent with his family especially his grandkids. 

A memorial fund will be established in memory of Gary.
