George A. Fredrickson, 85 of Grand Island, formerly of Lincoln, died Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Litzenberg Long Term Care in Central City.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Grand Island. The Reverend Charles L. Torpey will officiate. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Calvary Cemetery in Lincoln, NE.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday with a Vigil service at 7 p.m. at St. Leo’s Catholic Church.
All Faiths Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Fredrickson was born February 13, 1928 at Lamberton, Minnesota the son of John and Ida (Brog) Fredrickson.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Jean who died March 17, 2007; his parents; brothers, Jim and Art and sisters, Irene and Jo.
Survivors include children and their spouses, Judy and Alan Brown of Phillips, Dianne and John Swertzic of Fullerton, Mary and Craig Kreiner of Davey, Allen Fredrickson of Omaha and Cindy and Mike Burcham of Hebron.
Other survivors include grandchildren, Mike Brown, Kristin Teel, Michelle Swertzic, Jason Swertzic, Andrea Swertzic, Nicole Chauza, April Kreiner, Ashley duBois, John Fredrickson, Danielle Berry, Mike Burcham and Lindsay Roepe; 12 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Vi Fredrickson and brothers-in-law, Larry Haring, Dave Forrey and Bob Ewert.
George was raised on the family farm in Minnesota. He was united in marriage to Jean Haring on May 29, 1948. They lived in Minnesota until 1962 when they moved to Fullerton, NE where he worked for Central States Dairyman. They later moved to Fairbury and then to Lincoln.
George was of the Catholic faith. He enjoyed camping and fishing but most of all, time spent with family.
A memorial fund will be established in memory of George.
