Grand Island Mayor Jay Vavricek has made his recommendations for the two open City Council seats.
One name is very familiar with Grand Island Public schools.
Mayor Vavricek recommended Kent Mann for vacant Ward 1 position and Mark Stelk for the Ward 2 opening.
Mann was principal at Grand Island High from 1992-2011. He currently serves as associate professor of practice for UNL.
Mark Stelk owns the business General Collection in downtown Grand Island.
Vavricek's recommendations will be brought before City Council for a vote on January 28th.
Mann and Stelk three year terms would begin immediately and stretch to December of 2016.
Bob Niemann stepped down from his Ward 1 position.
And, Scott Dugan stepped down from his Ward 2 Position.
