With a state football title in 2012, two recent state basketball championships and one in volleyball last season, Giltner has become a small town with big accomplishments...

As Jeff Ashby's squad gets ready to take the field they hope once again to be among the last teams playing here in 2014....

ONLY TWO SEASONS REMOVED FROM A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP, THE GILTNER HORNETS PROMISE TO MAKE ANOTHER RUN AT A CLASS D–2 TITLE HERE IN 2014.

IT WAS A HEARTBREAKING LOSS IN  THE LAST SECONDS IN LAST SEASON'S STATE QUARTERFINAL TO THE WYNOT BLUE DEVILS THAT KEPT THE HORNETS FROM GOING FURTHER.

THEIR ONLY OTHER LOSS IN THE 9–2 CAMPAIGN WAS IN THE OPENER TO BDS WHERE THE PLAYERS COULD TELL TROUBLE WAS BREWING.

THE HORNETS WENT TO A 7 ON 7 CAMP OUT IN COLORADO EARLIER IN THE SUMMER.

THAT ALONE SHOWS JUST HOW MUCH THEY'RE WILLING TO WORK TO ACHIEVE ANOTHER CHAMPIONSHIP.

LAST YEAR WE COULD SEE AGAINST BDS WE WERE GASSED IN THE FIRST QUARTER.

YET BEN HINRICHS PUT UP SOME AMAZING  NUMBERS IN THIS WIDE OPEN GAME OF 8 MAN FOOTBALL.  HE THREW FOR 1537 YARDS AND 27 TOUCHDOWNS AND RUSHED FOR 1066 YARDS AND 17 MORE SCORES. HE FOLLOWS IN THE STEPS OF SUCH GILTNER GREAT QUARTERBACKS AS NATHAN MOST AND JAKE FINDLEY.

WE HAVE SEVEN SENIORS AND THEY'RE ALL REALLY GOOD SENIORS AND GOOD LEADERSHIP AND THINGS AND JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER TEAM YOU CAN'T AFFORD TO LOSE GUYS TO INJURIES AND SO HOPEFULLY WE CAN AVOID THE INJURY BUG THIS SEASON AND GET AS FAR AS WE CAN.

THIS IS OUR OFFENSE WHEN WE GO TO SEVEN ON SEVEN TOURNAMENTS THIS IS WHAT WE DO IN THE REGULAR SEASON WHEN WE GET SOME THINGS DONE IN THE SUMMER TIME FOR OUR OFFENSE AND WE GET INTO FALL CAMP WE'RE PRETTY WELL  OILED UP AND READY TO GO, WE HAVE FUN AND THE KIDS LOVE IT.

COLLEGE IS SO EXPENSIVE SO WHATEVER I CAN DO TO HELP THEM GET A SCHOLARSHIP IS WHAT I'LL DO AND GET TO THE LEVEL THAT THEY WANT TO PLAY AT AND FOR MOST OF THEM I KEEP IT REALISTIC FOR THEM AND TELL THEM AT WHAT LEVEL THEY CAN PLAY AT
