Governor Dave Heineman gave his State of the State address this morning in Lincoln. The Governor focused on several familiar themes during the speech including reiterating his opposition to the Affordable Care Act and the expansion of Nebraska's Medicaid program.
Heineman also continued his push for state prison reform and called on the legislature to place public safety first.
But the Governor's top priority continues to be tax reform. He's calling for a 500 million dollar package of tax relief and says the state can afford it.
The governor is now touring the state to promote these issues. That includes a stop in Kearney this afternoon. We will have a full report on that visit tonight on News 5.
