Tough talk from Governor Dave Heineman regarding the man facing four counts of first degree murder in a three week Omaha killing spree. In a letter sent to Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine; the Governor says he supports a decision to seek the death penalty for Nikko Jenkins. In that letter, the Governor says that the state has authorized the death penalty for situations like the "senseless murders" in this case. Heineman goes on to say that the movement to abolish capital punishment in Nebraska would suggest that it is unjust; but that he says he knows the vast majority of Nebraskans believes death is the only just sentence for a criminal who has terrorized the community with repeated murders.
