Prison Reform has been front and center this session and Governor Heineman is still calling for changes to the "Good Time" law.
State Senator Scott Lautenbaugh is sponsoring LB 382, or the Earned Time law. The proposal requires inmates convicted of the most violent crimes to *earn* a reduction in their sentence. Heineman says the public has a lot to say about this debate.
Discussion on the good time law began after suspected killer Nikko Jenkins went on a killing spree last summer. Just weeks after he was released early from prison.
